Eavon Boland, "That the Science of Cartography is Limited" and Others
Eavon Boland (1944–) was born in Dublin to an Irish diplomat and a painter.
She grew up in London and New York but returned to Dublin to attend Trinity
College, Dublin, where she subsequently taught. She is now professor of English
and director of the creative writing program at Stanford University. Her
collections of verse include New Territory: Poems (1967), The War
Horse: Poems (1975), In Her Own Image (1980), Night Feed
(1982), The Journey and Other Poems (1987), Outside History: Selected
Poems 1980–1990 (1990), In a Time of Violence (1994), and The
Lost Land (1998).
