about the authorsMichal Brody, (Ph. D., The University of Texas at Austin) is a visiting researcher at the Centro de Investigaciones y Estudios Superiores en Antropología Social in Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico. A lifelong teacher, Michal has taught linguistics, composition, and English as a second language. She also teaches Yucatec Maya at the Duke-University of North Carolina Consortium in Latin American Studies. Keith Walters (Ph. D., The University of Texas at Austin) is associate professor of linguistics at The University of Texas at Austin with courtesy appointments in anthropology and Middle Eastern studies. A socioliguist specializing in the languages and language issues of North Africa, Keith has concurrent appointments in anthropology and Middle Eastern Studies. He was formerly in the English department at Ohio State, and was the editor of Written Communication. |
