Avant-Garde Film Machine
Unlike narrative films,
experimental films, also known as avant-garde films, often present
formal and logical arrangements that reject story, theme, and
other conventional structuring systems. Indeed, avant-garde filmmakers
may discard traditional continuity and cinematographic style to
experiment with other patterns. Most experimental films offer
a logic of their own, but formal traditions exist within experimental
cinema, such as the ironic juxtaposition of typically unrelated
subjects. In this spirit of serious play, use the Avant-Garde
Film Machine to create your own experimental films.
