Student SmartWork FAQ

How do I register for SmartWork?

If your instructor has a SmartWork course, follow these instructions.

You will need a valid email address, an Enrollment Key from your instructor, and a Registration Code From W. W. Norton.

Is SmartWork available as a self-study resource? My instructor has not set up a SmartWork course.

Self-study courses are available for Economics, 4e. Instructions for accessing these are available here.

Access to course material for Astronomy, Chemistry, Physics, and Macroeconomics are available only if your instructor has established a SmartWork course.

I did not receive the confirmation email from no-reply@wwnorton.com. How do I complete my registration?

Check your spam filter. If it's not there, please contact W.W. Norton tech support.

In your helpdesk request, please tell us what email address you used during registration.

What does the Registration Code do, and how I get one?

The Registration Code consists of eight characters and a dash (i.e., XXXX-XXXX). This is your proof of purchase from Norton. Do not discard this code.

All students have free access to SmartWork for two weeks. After that period you will be prompted to enter your unique registration code if you have not done so already.

Registration Codes are contained within SmartWork folders that may be shrink-wrapped with new books at your instructor's request.

Registration Codes may also be purchased through Norton's Student Store (see the ordering page for the book, or the top of this page).

What does the Enrollment Key do and how do I get one?

An Enrollment Key allows instructors to control who may access to their SmartWork course.

If you do not have an Enrollment Key, contact your instructor.

I lost the multiple-use registration code I activated last term. Is there a way for me to look that up?

Yes. If you know the email address you used when setting up your SmartWork user account, you can use our registration code look-up function. Multi-use registration codes are sold bundled with new books only, and are priced at a steep discount. Unused portions of your registration code are non-transferable and non-refundable.
