Emma Donoghue, "The Cost of Things"

Emma Donoghue (1969–) was born in Dublin in 1969 but has lived outside Ireland for a number of years. Her first novel, Stir-Fry, was published in 1994 and her subsequent works include Hood (1995) and Kissing the Witch (1997). "Going Back" was published in Alternative Loves: Irish Gay and Lesbian Stories, edited by David Marcus (Martello Books, 1994).
