Meet the Editor
Wayne Franklin is Davis Distinguished Professor of American Literature at Northeastern University. Previously he was professor of English and chair of American Studies at the University of Iowa. He is editor of the "Literature to 1620" section of The Norton Anthology of American Literature, Fourth Edition, and editor, with Michael Steiner, of Mapping American Culture. He is also author of The New World of James Fennimore Cooper; A Rural Carpenter’s World; and Discoverers, Explorers, Settlers: The Diligent Writers of Early America. He is founding editor of the American Land and Life series.
