Meet the Editor
Michael R. Katz is Director of the Center for Post-Soviet and Eastern European Studies, Chairman of the Department of Slavic Languages, and Professor of Russian at the University of Texas at Austin. He previously taught at Williams College. He is the author of The Literary Ballad in Early Nineteenth-Century Russian Literature and Dreams and the Unconscious in Nineteenth-Century Russian Fiction. His translations include Ivan Turgenev’s Fathers and Sons, Alexander Herzen’s Who Is to Blame?, and N. G. Chernyshevsky’s What Is to Be Done? He is editor of the Norton Critical Editions of Fathers and Sons and Dostoevsky’s Notes from Underground.
