Meet the Editors

R. V. Cassill is professor emeritus of English at Brown University; he has also taught at the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and at Purdue, Columbia, and Harvard. He has published three collections of short stories, three novels, and a creative writing textbook, Writing Fiction. Professor Cassill is the editor of The Norton Anthology of Short Fiction, Sixth Edition.

Joyce Carol Oates is professor of creative writing at Princeton University. She is the author of numerous story collections, including, most recently, Heat (1991), Haunted: Tales of the Grotesque (1994), and Will You Always Love Me? (1996). Her many novels include them (1969), for which she received the National Book Award, and We Were the Mulvaneys (1996).
