SmartWork
Developed in collaboration with Science Technologies, SmartWork is an innovative online homework management system. Customizable assignments combine with interactive feedback to create a powerful environment for both teaching and learning.
- Smart Assignments Instructors can choose from ready-made assignments that require active learning from students. For the Fourth Edition of Economics, three types of ready-made assignments will be available:
- Interactive graphing tutorials allow students to adjust points, lines, and curves on a graph and then instantly view the consequences of these changes. In this way, students can see economic concepts in action.
- Audio graphs guide students step-by-step through a lesson. On screen, a slide show demonstrates worked problems and manipulates graphs, while an audio track explains the concepts at hand.
- Conceptual quizzes encourage critical thinking by challenging students to consider their answers after they respond to each question.
- Smart feedback. SmartWork’s interactive feedback gives students just the help they need, right when they need it. If they answer a question incorrectly, students are presented with a series of discrete questions that get them thinking about the problem and guide them to the correct solution. Students who answer correctly on the first try can skip this additional tutoring and move on to other problems. Instructors can assess students’ work with an easy-to-use gradebook function.
- Smart customization. With SmartWork’s intuitive interface, professors can customize Norton’s ready-made assignments or write their own, without any prior programming knowledge.
Access to SmartWork is free to all students who purchase a new textbook or ebook.
