Meet the Authors
Thomas R. Gilbert holds a B.S. in chemistry from Clarkson College and a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is Associate Professor of Chemistry and Education and Associate Director of the School of Education at Northeastern University. His research interests are in environmental analytical chemistry and science education. He teaches courses in general, analytical, and environmental chemistry and runs workshops in science education for pre-K–12 teachers.
Rein V. Kirss completed both a B.S. and an M.A. in chemistry and a B.A. in history at the State University of New York at Buffalo. He received his Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry in 1986 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where the seeds for this text were undoubtedly planted. He is Associate Professor of Chemistry at Northeastern University with a research interest in organometallic chemistry.
Geoffrey Davies holds B.Sc., Ph.D., and D.Sc. degrees in chemistry from Birmingham University and is Matthews Distinguished University Professor at Northeastern University. His research has explored experimental and theoretical redox chemistry and, most recently, the chemistry of humic substances in sediments, soils, and water. He was awarded Northeastern’s Excellence in Teaching Award in 1981, 1993, and 1999.
