| Chapter 1: The Study of the Person |
By the time you enter college you have probably written several autobiographies (usually for English classes). For this activity write a 24 page autobiography, written from a personal (not a psychological) point of view. As you think about what to write, think about what brought you to this point in your life (who you are and where you are today). Write about the most important events that occurred in your life. Write about those personality characteristics you view as being the most important aspects of what makes you unique. Write the autobiography in a style exactly like the ones you have written for other non-psychology classes. You can use all of the scholarly and personal knowledge you have acquired so far. If you would like, rather than writing a chronological autobiography, you can list important events and personality traits. Save this document, because at the end of the class your activity will be to write a new autobiography using the knowledge you have gained in this class. When you are done you can compare these two documents and see just how much you have learned about personality psychology!
