1. Interests groups, like the campaigns themselves, produce and distribute attack ads during an election year. These ads are designed to demonstrate how opposing candidates do not support the interests and agendas which the group represents, and often provide commentary on the legislative record of a particular candidate’s oppo-nents.

2. The Sierra Club is the oldest and largest grassroots environmental organization in the United States. It was founded on May 28, 1892 in San Francisco, California by the well-known conservationist and preservationist John Muir, who became its first pres-ident. The Sierra Club has hundreds of thousands of members in chapters located throughout the US, and is affiliated with Sierra Club Canada.
