  1. What are the consequences to a democratic society when government responds only to the middle- and upper-class voters? Do you think the working class in the United States will ever resort to riots and demonstrations? Explain.

  1. Do your parents vote? Does their example influence your voting behavior? If they don’t vote, do they explain why? If they do vote, have they told you why they think it is important?

  1. In most cases, convicted felons are restored to their rights after completing their sentences, except for the right to vote. In view of the large number of people incarcerated in the United States, do you think it’s time we changed this policy? Explain.

  1. Do you think that student council elections help teach people the importance of voting? How many people turn out to vote in student government elections at your college or university? Do you vote in campus elections? If not, why not?
