What You Can Do

There is something you can do that might make a difference. Amnesty International (AI), a worldwide organization for human rights, maintains a Web site at www.amnesty.org.

Each month it features several worldwide appeals, current stories of civil liberties violations. A short summary of the issue is provided, along with an address where you can send a letter of appeal. The Web site even gives directions on how to write an appropriate letter. Writing a letter will only take a few minutes for you, but it could help save the life of an innocent person somewhere in the world. While you're doing this, check to see if your campus has an AI chapter that you can join. Or, you and your friends in this class could start a campus chapter.
