Chapter Simulation
Introduction
Before embarking on this simulation, be sure to read Chapter 8.
The 2000 presidential election was one of the closest on record, and the results from a single populous state could have made the difference in the outcome. Even so, the odds that any single vote in an election will tip the balance and create a winner are remote. Given the tiny probability that an individual’s vote will determine the winner in an election, mobilizing voters becomes a difficult challenge for those seeking to increase turnout.
In this simulation, you are cast in the role of your state’s election commissioner, charged with increasing turnout in the next elections.
