Chapter 10: Elections
Parties exist primarily to contest elections. Indeed, that is the single most important factor that distinguishes them from other groups. It is often difficult for parties to recruit “quality” challengers, with the experience, fund-raising ability, and drive to be successful.
Here is the scenario for this simulation. You will play the role of a candidate for a Congressional seat, challenging an incumbent attempting to wrest the seat away for your party. The odds are stacked against such a campaign, for sitting incumbents win nearly 90 percent of the time. Will you make the right choices to increase your odds of winning?
