Chapter 3: The Constitutional Framework: Federalism and Separation of Powers
Federalism refers to the division of powers and functions between the national, state, and local governments. As shown in Table 3.1 (p. 88), there are well over 87,000 governments in the United States alone. All individual citizens interact with several different governments as part of their daily lives.
Recall from the chapter that the distribution of power between the national, state, and local levels of government has changed enormously since the writing of the Constitution.
In this simulation, you are cast in the role of a recent college graduate, moving to a large city to begin your profession. Your new employer has graciously moved all of your things to your new home, and you have flown to your new city to begin work in three days.
