Using Statistics in Argument: Ratios

A ratio is a more meaningful statistic. A ratio is a total expressed in relative terms. It is a statistic specifying the number of items in a class, or the sum of their values on a variable, per unit of some other class.


In 1990, there were 9.4 murders per 100,000 residents in the United States.
