Welcome to the
Western Civilizations, 15e Trial: Digital History Center!

Begin your tour by selecting Chapter 1 (above).

Four reasons this site will improve your chances of succeeding in your history survey:

  1. Focus Questions and Answers: Each textbook chapter opens with a series of questions provided to set your mind in motion regarding the overarching ideas in that chapter. Once an answer form is completed, a model answer is revealed. In effect, the site provides short answer essays that encompass every textbook chapter.
  2. Interactive Map Exercises: Twenty new map exercises guide you through more than 100 maps. Wrapped in interactive pedagogy, each map includes:
    • Audio introductions, transitions, and conclusions
    • Map Review Worksheets
    • Map Tools: built into the design, these tools zoom in and out of the illustration, add and subtract labels, and highlight specific geographic sections
  3. Chrono-Sequencers:These interactive chapter chronologies challenge you to reassemble the sequence of events and will help you understand the flow of history.
  4. Flashcards add a game-like element to any website. They’re quick quiz reminders of major historical figures and events.

Add to that Chapter Outlines, Summaries, and Quizzes and you have a full array of chapter review materials – all just a mouse click away.

But this Digital History Center also serves as a Research Hub for projects and topics referred to in the textbook. Twelve Digital History Features offer hundreds of documents and images with tutorial oversight to focus your study on a range of interesting topics, and each document or image is accompanied by a media analysis worksheet.
