THE ONION

THE ONION calls itself “America’s Finest News Source,” a claim so preposterous and silly that it has never been seriously challenged. In fact, silliness is the guiding principle of the Onion, which has published satire of the news for nearly twenty-five years. A core element of its humor is articles written in sensationalist style about ordinary people engaged in perfectly routine or trivial activities. This article appeared in 2010.
