Stephanie Ericsson (b. 1953)
Screenwriter and essayist. Ericsson was two months pregnant with her first child when her husband suddenly died. Already an author of screenplays and two books about addiction, Ericsson poured her grief into her journals, which were excerpted in the Utne Reader and then collected in a volume of essays, Companion Through the Darkness: Inner Dialogues on Grief (1993). The book struck a chord with both critics and readers.
