Chapter Four

Classification and Division RealTime

You are the newest editor for MSN.com, and your job is to give the site a facelift. You’ll need to sift through thousands of headlines and photos to decide what should appear on the MSN home page, and how the stories should be classified and divided. Here’s the catch: your board of directors has informed you that you need to reach two target audiences: business people who check the site for a quick update of business-related news and market watches, and the stay-at-home parent who uses the site to be informed of news as well as parenting and education-related stories. Using a week's worth of headlines as an example, show how you would classify and divide the various news stories in ways that will appeal to and appease your target audiences.
