The Editor

J. Paul Hunter is Chester D. Tripp Professor in the Humanities and Professor of English at the University of Chicago, where he has taught since 1987. He is the author of The Reluctant Pilgrim: Defoeís Emblematic Method and Quest for Form in Robinson Crusoe; Occasional Form: Henry Fielding and the Chains of Circumstance; and Before Novels: The Cultural Contexts of Eighteenth-Century Fiction. He is editor of The Norton Introduction to Poetry and co-editor of The Norton Introduction to Literature and New Worlds of Literature.
