About the Editor

James F. Knapp is Professor of English at the University of Pittsburgh, where he teaches modern Irish, American, and English literature, with particular emphasis on modern poetry, as well as courses on the history of poetry in English from the Middle Ages to the twentieth century. The author of Literary Modernism and the Transformation of Work and Ezra Pound, he has also written on particular aspects of the modern, such as primitivism and modern art, the growth of nationalisms of various kinds, and the uses of myth and tradition to make sense of a rapidly changing world. Recently, Professor Knapp has been exploring ways to make the rich multimedia possibilities of the computer an everyday part of classroom teaching.
