Searching Tips

• To search for a specific phrase (such as an author's full name or a book title), it is best to use quotation marks around the phrase that you are searching for. A search for "Streetcar Named Desire" will provide you with much more accurate results than attempting the same search without the quotation marks.

• If you are looking for occurrences of two or more words on the same page, you should use the word "AND" between the words you are searching for. For example, a search for "Japanese AND poetry" will show you pages that have all those words on the same page, even if they do not necessarily appear together. This can be handy for searches where you are not looking for an exact phrase, but you are looking for two related concepts.

• To search for two terms that do not have to appear together, you can use the word "OR" between the words you are searching for. A search for "sonnet OR haiku" will return results that have either of those words, but not necessarily both. If you enter in terms without using quotation marks or "AND" between your terms, this is what the search engine will assume you are trying to do.
