Stanley Wells is professor of Shakespeare studies and director of the Shakespeare Institute of the University of Birmingham. He lives in Gloucestershire. He is general editor of the Oxford edition of the Complete Works of Shakespeare. He is also well known as a reviewer of productions of the plays.
